Singapore Permanent Residence (PR) is highly sought after by individuals holding various work passes such as Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass (SP). If you are considering applying for PR, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the required documents for each category. In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive checklist to help you prepare your PR application successfully.


For individuals holding EP or SP passes, the following documents are typically required:

Attention: Non-English documents require notarized translation.

A1. Valid travel document with validity of at least 6 months and passport pages showing personal particulars and official descriptions;
A2. Employment Pass or S Pass;
A3. Identity card (if applicable);
A4. Birth certificate or official household census list or family register showing both parents’ name;
A5. Deed poll or change of name certificate (if applicable);
A6. Highest educational certificates (including all tertiary qualifications), transcripts, professional license/membership certificates and vocational trade certificates;
A7. Testimonials from previous employer(s) stating the nature and duration of employment and the last drawn basic salary (if any);
A8. Payslips for the last 6 months;
A9. Current Employer’s letter stating the date of employment, position held, salary per month for the past 6 months with breakdown into basic, overtime and allowance per month. The letter, addressed to the Controller of Immigration, should be dated within 1 month from the date of submission;
A10. Appendix - 1 (PR-PTS) is to give consent for ICA to obtain and verify financial information provided in respect of this application (This form is available for downloading before the start of application upon Singpass login);
A11. (For self-employed) Valid Business Registration Certificate with names of partners shown; and
A12. (For self-employed) Occupational license pertaining to your employment (e.g. Stall license, business license, property agent license). 

If you are married, additional documents are required:

B1. Official marriage certificate.
B2. Death certificate or divorce certificate from previous marriages (if applicable).
B3. Documents related to child(ren) custody from previous marriage(s) (if applicable).
B4. Spouse's highest educational qualification certificates, including all tertiary education qualifications, academic transcripts, professional licenses/membership certificates, and vocational trade certifications.

If you are applying with your spouse, the following documents are also required:

B5. Spouse’s valid travel document with valid Immigration Pass and passport pages showing personal particulars and official descriptions are required;
B6. Spouse’s birth certificate showing both parents’ name;
B7. Spouse’s deed poll or change of name certificate (if applicable);
B8. Spouse’s identity card (if applicable); and
B9. Death certificate or divorce certificate and the custody papers for the child(ren) in respect of your spouse’s previous marriage(s) (if any). 

If you are applying with children, the following documents are additionally required:

C1. Child’s valid travel document with valid Immigration Pass and passport pages showing personal particulars and official descriptions;
C2. Child’s birth certificate showing both the child’s and the parents’ names;
C3. Child’s adoption papers (if applicable); and
C4. Child’s deed poll or change of name certificate (if applicable).


For Singapore Citizens or PRs sponsoring their spouse or children, the required documents include:

Attention: Non-English documents require notarized translation.

A1. Valid travel document with validity of at least 6 months and passport pages showing personal particulars and official descriptions;
A2. Identity card (if applicable).
A3. Birth certificate or official household registration record with parents' names.
A4. Deed poll or legal document for change of name (if applicable).
A5. Birth certificates of current spouse and children, indicating the names of parents (including adoption documents, if applicable).
A6. Death certificate or divorce certificate from previous marriages, along with child custody documents (if applicable).
A7. Highest educational qualification certificates, including all tertiary education diplomas and academic transcripts.

If the applicant is an employee, the following additional documents are required:

A8. Work permit (if applicable).
A9. Letter of employment from the current company, specifying the date of employment, position, and detailed breakdown of monthly salary for the past 6 months, including basic salary, overtime pay, and allowances. Address the letter to the Controller of Immigration, and ensure it is dated within one month from the date of submission.
A10. Payslips for the past 6 months.
A11. (For self-employed individuals) Valid business registration certificate displaying the names of partners (if applicable).
A12. (For self-employed individuals) Professional licenses relevant to your occupation, such as hawker license, business license, or real estate agent license.


The sponsor (Singapore Citizen or PR) must provide the following documents:

B1. Identity card or 11B (Temporary ID - for National Service enlistment).
B2. Official marriage certificate.
B3. Death certificate or divorce certificate from previous marriages, along with child custody documents (if applicable).
B4. Highest educational qualification certificates, including all tertiary education diplomas and academic transcripts.
B5. Letter of employment from the current company, specifying the date of employment, position, and detailed breakdown of monthly salary for the past 6 months, including basic salary, overtime pay, and allowances. Address the letter to the Controller of Immigration, and ensure it is dated within one month from the date of submission.
B6. Payslips for the past 6 months.
B7. Consent letter to allow ICA to obtain and verify financial information related to the Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).
B8. (For self-employed individuals) Valid business registration certificate displaying the names of partners and/or valid professional licenses.
B9. (For self-employed individuals) Professional licenses relevant to your occupation, such as hawker license, business license, or real estate agent license.


For students applying for PR, the required documents include:

Attention: Non-English documents require notarized translation.

A1. Valid passport and valid entry permit, with personal information and official endorsements.
A2. Identity card (if applicable).
A3. Birth certificate or official household registration record with parents' names.
A4. Deed poll or legal document for change of name (if applicable).
A5. All educational qualification certificates and academic transcripts.
A6. Valid passports or identity cards of parents.
