Applying for PR with Family: Q&A
2023-06-14

1.My husband is an SP holder, and I am a WP holder. Can we apply for PR together?
Answer: Yes, it is possible for both SP and WP holders to apply for PR as a family. In such cases, the husband would typically be the main applicant. If you have children, they can also be included in the application.

2. I am an SP holder, and my family is not in Singapore. Can I Bring my family members to apply for PR?
Answer: The eligibility for including your family members depends on factors such as your salary level. If you have a relatively high salary and can support your family, you may have a better chance of a successful application. However, if your salary is lower and your family members have no prior experience of working, living, or studying in Singapore, it is advisable to apply for PR on your own first.

3.My mother is a PR holder, and I am currently 21 years old without a permit. Can I apply for PR?
Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot apply for PR based on your mother's sponsorship as you are already above 21 years old. You would need to find employment in Singapore and apply for a work permit such as the S Pass or Eployment Pass before considering a PR application.

4.  I am an SP/WP holder, and my spouse is a Singaporean. Do I need to convert my work pass to LTVP before applying for PR?
Answer: If your current permit has a considerable validity period remaining, you can apply for PR directly without converting to a LTVP. However, if the validity period is nearing expiration, it would be advisable to apply for a DP for your spouse first and then proceed with the PR application.

5.Both my spouse and I are SP holders, and I have a higher salary. Who should be the main applicant for PR?
Answer: The decision on the main applicant for PR depends on various factors, not just the salary. While salary is one aspect considered, other factors such as the duration of stay in Singapore and educational background also play a role. Generally, it is recommended for the male spouse to be the main applicant. However, if the wife possesses exceptional qualifications or advantages over her husband, she can consider being the main applicant.

If you are preparing your PR application in Singapore, it is crucial to gather all the necessary documents and ensure they meet the requirements stated by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). By submitting a complete and well-prepared application, you can enhance your chances of securing Singapore PR status.
