Introduction

Singapore American International School (hereinafter referred to as SAS) was founded in 1956 to offer an educational option for Singapore’s American community and other families wanting an American-style education for their children. It offers kindergarten, primary and secondary education for students aged 3-18. The school has approximately 3,800 students from over 50 countries currently. Teaching Environment

SAS is accredited by the Office of Overseas Schools of the US State Department in terms of teaching quality and environment. In terms of facilities, the school has classrooms, music rooms, art classrooms, an indoor air-conditioned rock climbing gym, 2 acres of natural rainforest used as a living laboratory, and a large auditorium equipped with 38 microphones and over 200 speakers. In addition, there are many art learning facilities for students of all grades. Teaching Staff

The teaching staff of the SAS stay for an average of 7 years, one of the highest intention rates among international schools. 68% of the teachers have a master's degree or above, and 70% of the teaching staff are from the United States while some teachers are from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Curriculum

SAS provides American-style education to its students. The curriculum and syllabus aim to shape a good student's personality and promote creative exploration. At the same time, it emphasizes Chinese education even though it is an American-based school. Therefore, the students are required to learn Chinese every day since kindergarten.
