Starting from September 1, 2023, the application for EP in Singapore will officially enter the "COMPASS" assessment mode. Applicants need to undergo detailed scoring assessment under the "Complementarity Assessment Framework" system developed by MOM.

People who need to renew their EP should also be aware that the renewal standards for EP permits on September 1, 2024 will also be implemented according to COMPASS!

COMPASS is divided into two major parts and six sub items: the Foundation Criteria are items C1 to C4; The bonus criteria are C5 and C6.

Company personnel: Less than 15 PMET employees

Applicant's situation:

Education: Bachelor's degree from an overseas university (not a top tier institution)

Salary: In the 70% percentile of local PMET salary at the same level.

His total score is 40 points

Conclusion: It can be seen that even if the job is not in high demand in SOL and does not have a degree from a top global university, the company is still in the stage of a small startup, and the position and salary meet the requirements, there is still a chance to obtain an EP.

Case 2

Company: Financial Services Department of Commercial Bank

Company personnel: Local PMET accounts for 40% of the company's workforce

Applicant's situation:

Position: Operations Manager

Education: Bachelor's degree from an overseas university (not a top tier institution)

Diversity: The applicant is a minority group in the company

Salary: Not within the 65% percentile of local PMET salary for the same level.

His total score is 40 points

Conclusion: It can be seen that even if the salary is not advantageous and the applicant does not have a degree from a top global university, they are still a minority group in the company and have the opportunity to obtain an EP.
