When reviewing the regulations for various types of work passes in Singapore, we often see the presence of PMET employees. So what does PMET employee refer to, and what is the connection between it and the work pass for foreigner employees?
What are PMET Employees?
PMET employees in Singapore are an abbreviation for a local high skilled population, where P refers to experts and professionals, M refers to managers, E refers to executives, and T refers to technicians.
Is there a relationship between PMET and foreign employee application for work passes? It's related, both the EP and the EntrePass are related to it.
The Relationship Between PMET and EP
The current assessment and scoring mechanism for EP applications, COMPASS, includes C1 salary standards that are scored based on competitive ranking, taking into account the applicant's position, age, and PMET employees of the same level in Singapore based on their percentile.
If the salary reaches the top 90%, you can receive 20 points; if it reaches 65% -90%, you can receive 10 points; if it is below 65%, you cannot score.
The MOM has also released a local PMET revenue benchmark as a reference.
For example, the applicant is engaged in the construction industry and is 46 years old. According to MOM's statistics, if their monthly income reaches SGD 7500 (top 65%), they can receive 10 points. If they reach SGD 13700 (top 90%), they can receive 20 points. If they are below SGD 7500, they will not be able to score in item C1.
The relationship between PMET and EntrePass
The update of EntrePass is related to PME. According to the latest regulations of the Ministry of Human Resources, in order to renew the EntrePass in the later stage, the following conditions must be met:
In addition, there is a maximum limit on the amount of LQS (Local Qualifying Salary) that can be used to offset one manager (PME, professionals, managers, and executives) with three LQS (Local Qualified Salaries), and the number of LQS cannot exceed 12.
For example, for the 6th (10th year) renewal of the EntrePass, the company needs to have at least 5 PMEs or 12 LQS+1 PME instead of 15 LQS.
The equation is as follows:
In the 8th year, 12LQS=4PME
In the 10th year, 12LQS+1PME=5PME
In the 12th year, 12LQS+2PME=6PME
In the 14th year, 12LQS+3PME=7PME
In the 16th year, 12LQS+4PME=8PME
In the 18th year, 12LQS+5PME=9PME
In the 20th year, 12LQS+6PME=10PME
