Renewal Standards for Passes in Singapore
2025-04-21
The four common types of work passes in Singapore: Employment Pass(EP), Entre Pass, S Pass, Work Permit WP, etc., can all be renewed after the initial application expires. Of course, like new applications, renewal also requires certain conditions to be met.
When is the Latest Deadline for Renewing SG Work Passes?
Employment Pass: 6 months before expiration;
Entre Pass: 3 months before expiration;
S Pass: 6 months before expiration;
Work Permit: 6-8 weeks before expiration.
What are the Renewal Standards for SG Work Passes?
1. EP License
The renewal criteria are the same as the application criteria:
1) The minimum salary is S$5600, and the EP salary requirement in the financial services field is even higher, at S$6200;
2) A bachelor's degree or above has more advantages;
3) Must meet the scoring requirements of the COMPASS framework, with a minimum score of 40.
Matters needing attention:
1) According to the regulations of MOM, each foreign employee applying for a pass only needs to undergo one degree authentication, and does not need to resubmit proof when renewing the pass; If you have not undergone academic background check during the application process, you will need to undergo academic certification before renewing your contract.
2) The minimum salary will increase with age, so when renewing, it is only necessary to reach the EP minimum salary.
2. SP License
The renewal criteria are the same as the application criteria:
1) Salary: A monthly salary of S$3150 or more can apply for SP;
2) Education: Associate degree or technical qualification certification (requiring at least one year of full-time study to obtain technical certification);
3) Work experience: Although there is no explicit requirement for the minimum number of years of work experience, work experience will be used as a review criterion;
4) Company headcount quota: The number of SP employees in the service industry cannot exceed 10% of the total employees, and the number of SP employees in other industries cannot exceed 15% of the total employees. Please refer to the official website of MOM for more information;
5) Labor tax: Currently, employers pay a foreign labor tax of SGD 550 for SP. By September 1, 2025, it will be further increased to SGD 650.
3. Entre Pass
Renewal criteria:
Note: PME refers to full-time working Singaporean citizens/PRs, professionals, managers, executives, etc. who have worked for at least 3 months and have a minimum monthly salary of S$4700.
In addition, there is a maximum limit on the amount of LQS (Local Qualifying Salary) that can be used to offset one manager (PME, professionals, managers, and executives) with three LQS (Local Qualified Salaries), and the number of LQS cannot exceed 12.
For example, for the 6th (10th year) renewal of the entrepreneurship permit, the company needs to have at least 5 PMEs or 12 LQS+1 PME instead of 15 LQS.
The equation is as follows:
In the 8th year, 12LQS=4PME
In the 10th year, 12LQS+1PME=5PME
In the 12th year, 12LQS+2PME=6PME
In the 14th year, 12LQS+3PME=7PME
In the 16th year, 12LQS+4PME=8PME
In the 18th year, 12LQS+5PME=9PME
In the 20th year, 12LQS+6PME=10PME
4. WP
The renewal criteria are the same as the application criteria:
1) Need to meet the ratio of foreign labor;
2) Need to meet labor tax requirements;
3) No salary or educational requirements;
4) Age requirement: 18-61 years old;
5) The company's requirement is to purchase insurance with a minimum coverage of S$15000 for them; Pay a guarantee of S$5000.
