Notarisation Requirements by Singapore Government Bodies

Not all Chinese documents translated into English require notarisation,standards vary across authorities:

Translation only (no notarisation required): Documents submitted to traffic police departments and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) are acceptable with qualified English translations alone, without notary public endorsement.

Mandatory translation + notarisation: Non-English original documents submitted to ICA for residency applications and to HPB (Health Promotion Board) for vaccination record applications must undergo both translation and notarisation to be deemed valid for submission.

Required Translated Documents for Different Applications

1) EP (Employment Pass) Application

Non‑English resumes must be translated into English; academic credentials need to be accompanied by officially issued notarised English verification reports.

2) Conversion of Chinese Driving Licence to Singapore Licence

A certified English translation of your domestic driving licence is required. Holders of an International Driving Permit may submit translated documents as applicable.

3) Primary One School Admission for Children

If a child’s birth certificate is issued in Chinese, a corresponding English translation is mandatory.

4) Application for PR or Singapore Citizenship
